Ground Water Pollution with heavy Metals in Yongdeungpo Industrial Area

Abstract
|
|
|
A study was carried out to find the status of ground water pallution with heavey metals in Yongedungpo Industrial area, Seoul city, from July 16 to October 7, 1970. Iron, copper, manganese, lead, total chrome and arsenics were determined for each sample selected from 17 points and then analyzed by sectrophotometry at laboratory. As the results of this study, the following conclusionswere obtained;
1. Iron: In 17 sampling points the highest concentration of iron was found at Yangpyung Dong(3.257ppm) the lowest at Shindaebang Dong(0.589ppm). The concentration of iron in other areas were 2.369ppm at Gaebong Dong, 2.171ppm at Yangnam Dong, 1.681ppm at Shinrym Dong, 1.615ppm at Oryu Dong.
2. Copper: The concentrations of copper were found 0.433ppm at Oryu Dong, 0.334ppm at Doksan Dong, 0.310ppm at Gaebong Dong, 0.305ppm at Yangnam Dong, while the lowest was detected at Shingill Dong(0.039ppm).
3. Manganese: The highest concentration of manganese was determined at Shinpung Dong(0.420ppm) while the lowest at Huksuk Dong and Shingill Dong(0.006ppm). The concentrations of maganese in other areas were 0.402ppm at Guro Dong, 0.342ppm at Shinpung Dong, 0.196ppm at Oryu Dong.
4. Lead: The concentrations of lead were found 0.126ppm at Guro Dong, 0.082ppm at Doksan Dong, 0.179ppm at Shinpung Dong, 0.068ppm at Oryu Dong, while lead was not detected at Daerym Dong.
5. Total Chrome: The highest concentration of totalchrome was determined at Dorym Dong(0.074ppm) while total chrome was not detected at Huksuk Dong and Gaebong Dong. The following contrations were found in other areas 0.054ppm at Shinpung Dong, 0.052ppm at Guro Dong, 0.040ppm at Yangpyung.
6. Arsenics: The concentrations of arsenics were found 0.013ppm at Shindabang Dong, 0.008ppm at Yangnam Dong, 0.007ppm at Doksan Dong, Oryu Dong and Shingill Dong respectively, while arsenics was found in trace at remaining points.
The higher concentraion of four heavy metals(Fe, Cu, Mn, Pb) among six were found at Oryu Dong and the metals(Pb, Cr, Mn) at Guro Dong and Shinpung Dong, while Huksuk Dong, Sangdo Dong, Sindaebang Dong and Bongchun Dong areas showed the lower pollution state with five heavy metals(Fe, Cu, Mn, Pb, Cr).
